Dance (Algo)rhythms will be unveiled in Pisa on the 11th of October

Internet Festival is the largest Italian event devoted to the exploration of the World Wide Web and digital Innovation. It is organised by various institutional partners – such as the Municipality of Pisa and the Tuscany Region - and important research centers – such as the University of Pisa, Scuola Sant’Anna, Scuola Normale Superiore, and CNR, the Italian Research Agency. One of the goals of the festival is the dissemination of research results on technical and non-technical aspects of the Internet, largely unknown to the general audience through meetings, workshops, seminars, shows and performances all around the city centre of Pisa.

The keyword of the new edition, IF2019, is #therulesofthegame: the exploration of the game dynamics on our social and virtual life, its patterns and what means playing without rules.

CultureMoves will be present in the “Culture and Tourism” area presenting the results of our demonstration activities.

Dance (Algo)rhythms is a concrete example of re-use contents for a tourism action. It is a new form to tell the story of a territory, proposing a creative re-use of the visual content in a human-computer interaction form. The digital content used in the work were kindly made available by  Europeana, the EX APT photographic archive (Provincial Archive of Massa-Carrara) and by the historical archive of the Marble Railway (Municipality of Carrara).

On Friday 11th of October, from 10.00AM the public can visit the video installation, entering into a relationship with the digital contents of the work and, with their movements, modify it, giving life to perpetual and always new artistic forms.

From 7.00PM the video installation will be enriched by dance performances: classical, historical and hip-hop artists will transform the main elements of the territory - Apuan Alps, marble quarries and coastline - into a digital scenography.

In the afternoon we will also host the international conference “Moving Culture”.
